What is BTS Boulevard?

BTS Boulevard, explained

For the length of the BTS concert run in Toronto, the stretch of Yonge Street through North York Centre carries a second name: BTS Blvd. It is a celebratory, honorary name rather than a permanent change — every business on the strip still has a Yonge Street address — but the signs, the purple, and the crowds are real.

What makes the choice of street obvious is what was already there. This part of Yonge is Toronto's densest Korean commercial corridor: Korean BBQ and jokbal houses, fried chicken counters, soondubu and gukbap restaurants, bunsik and gimbap shops, dessert cafés, late-night pochas, three H Mart locations and Galleria Supermarket, packed into the blocks between Sheppard and Steeles. BTS Boulevard is, in practice, a K-food street.

Where exactly is BTS Boulevard?

BTS Boulevard is Yonge Street in North York, Toronto. The renamed section runs north from North York Boulevard (at Elmwood Avenue) to Finch Avenue — a walk of about twenty minutes end to end, past Mel Lastman Square and North York Centre station.

The Korean businesses spill well past both ends of that section, so our map covers the full corridor from Sheppard Avenue up to Steeles Avenue. If someone tells you to meet them "on BTS Blvd", they almost certainly mean somewhere on that longer stretch.

When is it on?

The celebration window runs August 21 to September 23, 2026. The Toronto Korean Festival opens it at Mel Lastman Square, 5100 Yonge St, from August 21 to 23, with food stalls, market vendors and live performances a few steps off the boulevard.

How to get to BTS Boulevard

• Subway. TTC Line 1 (Yonge–University) runs directly under the street. North York Centre station sits at the southern end of the renamed stretch and Finch station at the northern end; Sheppard–Yonge covers the southern half of the food corridor.
• On foot. Everything is on one straight street, so the simplest plan is to start at one subway station and walk to the next, stopping as you go.
• Driving. Yonge St parking is tight during the celebration; the side streets and plaza lots east and west of Yonge are the usual fallback, and the Finch and Sheppard commuter lots put you a short ride from the middle of the strip.

What to eat on the strip

• Korean BBQ — grill-at-the-table houses clustered near Sheppard and again around Finch.
• Korean fried chicken — several chicken-and-beer spots, busiest late.
• Soups and stews — soondubu, gamjatang, gukbap, kalguksu, the reason regulars come back in winter.
• Bunsik and gimbap — tteokbokki, rice dogs, gimbap counters for a fast, cheap stop between shops.
• Cafés and dessert — Korean bakeries and dessert cafés, including a Paris Baguette on the strip.
• Bars and pochas — soju-and-anju rooms and izakayas that keep going after the restaurants close.
• Korean groceries — three H Mart locations and Galleria Supermarket, for banchan, frozen dumplings, a full wall of ramyeon and Korean produce.
